Treasurer

Bathgate Street Aid is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as Treasurer. This voluntary role is critical in ensuring the smooth and transparent financial operation of our charity, which provides first aid and welfare support to vulnerable individuals in Bathgate town center. As a key member of the board of trustees, the Treasurer will be instrumental in managing the charity's financial affairs, enabling us to advance public health, save lives, and deliver immediate relief to those in need.

In this role, you will oversee the charity’s financial planning and reporting, ensuring that all funds are utilized effectively and responsibly to support our mission. You will work closely with other board members to establish budgets, track income and expenses, and provide strategic advice on financial matters. The Treasurer will also play a vital role in ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory financial requirements, contributing to the long-term sustainability and success of Bathgate Street Aid.

The ideal candidate for this role will receive a basic laptop for use in fulfilling their responsibilities. This device will be provided for the purposes of the charity only and will come equipped with Microsoft Office and antivirus protection, ensuring you have all the necessary tools to effectively manage and document the charity’s financial operations.


PVG Requirement
All volunteers with Bathgate Street Aid must undergo a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) check as part of the recruitment process. The cost of this check is a one-time expense to be covered by the volunteer.

Experience required

Experience in financial management, accounting, or bookkeeping (preferred but not essential).

Familiarity with creating and managing budgets.

Knowledge of charity finance regulations and reporting requirements (or willingness to learn).


Proficiency in using bookkeeping software, spreadsheets, or accounting tools.

Minimum age: 18
Legal: Disqualified directors, bankrupts, those with IVAs, unspent dishonesty convictions, or under disqualification orders. Practical: Must be 18+, available for meetings, admin tasks, and responsive to communications. Conflict of Interest: No conflicts
