We need to grow our fantastic team of volunteers to help us provide more fun, therapeutic and educational horsey activities for children and adults with additional support needs. Experience of handling horses is always beneficial but by no means obligatory - we have a variety of roles to fill and training and support is provided.
Friday afternoons 3 - 6pm / Midweek mornings (usually Mondays or Thursdays) 10 - 12.30
Helpers needed to support riding, vaulting and horse care lessons. This can involve leading horses or walking beside a rider during their lesson; working with participants who are learning about horse care; mucking out stables; bringing horses in from the field; grooming and tacking up horses; setting up obstacles in the arena and putting them away again; making cups of tea and chatting with participants and their carers.
Tea With A Pony - ad hoc dates throughout the warmer months
Helpers needed to serve teas, coffees and cake and chat with participants attending this lovely dementia-friendly activity, which involves watching some horse-riding action while enjoying tea and cake, followed by some therapeutic time meeting our horses.
Help set up the Tea With A Pony area and take down again after the session.
Experience required
Experience with horses is helpful but not a necessity. Experience of working within ASN provision helpful but not necessary.
