Girvan Tourist Information and Craft Shop are currently looking for volunteers to:
• assist with customer queries
• research information using the internet, travel guides and timetables
• provide accurate information on things to see and do and where to stay
• set up displays within the Tourist Point and re-stock literature
• keep accurate records
• keep up to date with local accommodation, places to visit, activities and events
• act as an ambassador for the local area and attractions
• serve and sell souvenirs and other items from gift shop
The tourist information is open from April-September from 12pm-4pm, and volunteers normally work one 4 hour shift per week on a day that suits them. If you are interested in working with people, and gaining customer service skills as well as basic administration skills this could be the role for you.
Experience required
Volunteers should have the following skills, or be willing to learn
• customer service
• thoroughness and attention to detail
• a desire to help people
• good verbal communication skills
• the ability to work well with others
• basic administration skills
• patience, sensitivity and understanding
• be comfortable using the internet
• cash-handling
Training will be provided.

Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
