BARGACREE Café Dishwasher Volunteer

The BARGACREE Café is the on-site café at The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice, located at 20 Dumbreck Road, Bellahouston Park, Glasgow, G41 5BW. Open daily from 8 am to 7 pm (with last orders at 5:30 pm),
The café welcomes patients, their families, staff, and the general public. Guests can enjoy wonderful views of the hospice gardens while dining. Operated by hospice staff and dedicated volunteers, BARGACREE Café is also dog-friendly, making it a perfect stop after a walk in Bellahouston Park.

Café Volunteer – Join Our Team and Make a Difference!
As a Café Volunteer, you’ll play a key role in the future of the Hospice by helping to provide a warm, welcoming, and high-quality food and beverage experience for patients, families, visitors, staff, and fellow volunteers. Your support will ensure the smooth and efficient running of the Hospice Café, creating a friendly and inviting atmosphere for all.

What You’ll Do:
Create a welcoming and friendly environment for all visitors
Follow kitchen dishwashing procedures
Clear and tidy tables, and restock counters with crockery, napkins, and dishes
Help maintain high presentation standards in the café
Follow food hygiene and safety guidelines
Ensure visitors have a positive and comfortable experience
Maintain confidentiality and communicate information appropriately
Skills & Personal Qualities:
Basic awareness of food hygiene
Friendly and welcoming approach with great customer service skills
Willingness to learn and train in café operations
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Cheerful, approachable, and confident when engaging with diverse visitors
Able to take initiative while also following direction
Committed to building good relationships with staff
Willing to undertake relevant training
Presentable appearance in line with organisational standards
Strong communication and customer care skills
Time Commitment:
We ask that volunteers commit to a regular schedule, whether weekly, fortnightly, or monthly.
Available shifts: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday from 11:30 am – 2:30 pm.


Training & Support:
Shadow shift with an experienced volunteer before your first shift
Food Hygiene Training
Hospice Orientation Training
Participation in mandatory training and team meetings as required

Experience required

No skills or experience are required - we will provide training. Every volunteer will receive an invite to attend orientation training before they start their new volunteer role. Training on the job and job shadowing are also provided.

Accessible by driving (we have a free car park, parking may not always be available if the Hospice/Cafe is busy, there is surrounding car parks available). Accessible by public transport.
