Community Central Halls
- VO102363
We are a community cinema based in Maryhill, Glasgow who aim to see our community thrive and prosper through the power of cinema.
Inclusivity is at the heart of everything we do. We want to empower our community by reflecting the aspirations, concerns, and lives of our people and places on the big screen.
There are many ways to get involved with the work that The Seamore does. If you share our vision for positive change in the community or just want to help out, there are three main ways to contribute:
The Seamore Neighbourhood Cinema is looking for a Projectionist / Cinema Technician / Support Volunteer.
VOLUNTEERING: Without our dedicated team of volunteers, the Seamore simply wouldn't happen. Our team brings a variety of skills and experience and in turn, learn new skills, meet like-minded people, and have fun!
The role involves setting up and operating our cinema equipment, ensuring our screenings are high quality and run smoothly.
Ideally, you will be comfortable working with technology, although there is no need for extensive knowledge on the subject, as training will be provided. We offer training and teaching on how to operate cutting-edge cinema technology.
Troubleshooting basic technical issues during screenings
Assisting with lighting, seating, and general cinema setup
Providing friendly support to audiences and fellow volunteers
The support volunteer will collect tickets and assist with cinema equipment if necessary.
The roles would involve the individual being available on the days of screenings, 2 times a month for 3 to 5 hours at a time, or weekly for 3 to 5 hours as the programme develops.
Once you have applied for the opportunity using the button below, you will be contacted within 5 working days and invited to attend an informal chat where you will have the opportunity to find out more about the role and the organisation. If you have not heard anything within this time please contact the volunteer coordinator directly, or Volunteer Glasgow.
