Volunteer Driver Opportunity with ApparelXchange – Help Us Make a Difference!
Are you passionate about reducing the environmental impact of children’s clothing? Do you want to support a sustainable future while giving back to your community? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

ApparelXchange (AXC) is looking for volunteer drivers to help with our clothing collection and distribution efforts across Glasgow.

What You Need:
-A full, clean driving licence
-Access to a vehicle that meets Low Emission Zone (LEZ) restrictions
-Business insurance for your vehicle
-Availability for 3–4 hours fortnightly


What You’ll Be Doing:
• Following a collection schedule – coordinating with a designated AXC staff member
• Keeping to schedule – notifying us of any delays or issues
• Handling donation bins – delivering, setting up lightweight cardboard bins, and ensuring they are in visible locations
• Loading & unloading donations – safely loading clothing bags into your vehicle and delivering them to our Cadogan Street warehouse
• Following safety guidelines – ensuring safe lifting practices and maintaining good health to drive


What We Provide:
A weekly schedule of collections
• Mileage reimbursement – 45p per mile
• Volunteer induction & training – covering health & safety, manual handling, and fire procedures
• Ongoing support from our Volunteer Coordinator – ensuring you feel confident and valued in your role
• A risk assessment for safe collections and deliveries
• No passenger transport required (unless previously agreed)
• No visits to unsafe locations – your safety and that of your vehicle is our priority
• Ongoing support from our Volunteer Coordinator – ensuring you feel confident and valued in your role

• A friendly and positive attitude – representing AXC in a professional manner

Here are directions to ApparelXchange's warehouse at 51 Cadogan Street, 1 Cadogan Square, Glasgow, G2 7HF:

By Public Transport:

Train: The nearest train stations are Glasgow Central & Anderston Station, approximately a 5-minute walk from the warehouse. Upon exiting the station, head east/west on Argyle Street, then turn right onto Douglas Street, and finally left onto Cadogan Street.


Bus: The closest bus stop is Marriott Hotel, Glasgow, about a 3-minute walk away. From the stop, walk east on Argyle Street, turn right onto Douglas Street, and then left onto Cadogan Street.


By Car:


From the M8 Motorway: Exit at Junction 19 and follow signs for the city centre. Continue onto Bothwell Street, then turn left onto Blythswood Street, and finally right onto Cadogan Street.
Parking:


Cadogan Square Car Park: Located at the end of Cadogan Street under the Anderston Centre, this car park offers 325 spaces. Operating hours are Monday to Saturday, 7 am to 9 pm; closed on Sundays. Hourly rates start at £3.50 for the first hour.

On-Street Parking: Limited on-street parking is available on Cadogan Street and surrounding areas. Please be aware of parking restrictions and charges.


Important Note: As of January 29, 2025, Glasgow enforces a ban on pavement parking. Ensure you park only in designated areas to avoid fines.
