Community Driver Volunteer

Help Royal Voluntary Service Fife support older people to be independent and stay connected to their communities. They run day centres, weekly community lunch & activity groups, as well as monthly events across Fife, and they are looking for volunteers who would use their own cars (mileage reimbursed at 45p per mile) to transport older adults to and from local groups and events, who are unable to access public transport either due to a disability or the isolation of their location. Community Driver Volunteers transform the lives of older people, by enabling them to take positive steps to stay connected to their community, enjoying the company of others at events and groups, thus reducing their isolation. This is flexible role that can fit in with your availability. You'll get all relevant training, all travel expenses are reimbursed, and you will be welcomed and supported by a friendly, local team.

Experience required

A full driving licence with access to a car, a friendly personality with good communication skills, empathy, patience and a non-judgmental attitude is necessary. You must be reliable, have the ability to maintain confidentiality, and be able to volunteer independently (with support from local staff).

Travel details

Royal Voluntary Service in Fife has community services requiring drivers running in the following areas: Dunfermline, the East Neuk of Fife and Tayport. Community Driver Volunteers would use their own cars to transport people to/from events or groups in the service areas.
