Brain Tumour Research
- VO102402
Join Brain Tumour Research as a Public Collections Volunteer and make a direct impact in the fight against brain tumours. Your role will help raise crucial funds and increase awareness, bringing us one step closer to finding a cure.
As a Public Collections Volunteer, you’ll be on the front lines of fundraising, engaging with the public at busy locations such as supermarkets and racecourses. With a collection bucket and a card machine, you’ll encourage donations while spreading awareness of Brain Tumour Research’s vital work. Your efforts will help fund essential scientific research to improve survival rates and find better treatments for those affected by this devastating disease.
*What You’ll Do:
- Collect donations from the public at designated locations, following Brain Tumour Research guidelines
- Engage with people in a friendly and respectful manner, raising awareness of our mission
- Ensure a professional and approachable presence, wearing provided identification to signify your role
- Register as a collector at the venue before starting your shift
- Handle collected funds responsibly, handing them over to the designated person at the end of your shift
*Who We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about making a difference. No prior experience is necessary—just a friendly attitude and a willingness to engage with the community. The ideal volunteer will be:
- Confident and polite, with strong communication skills
- Well-presented and professional
- Reliable and committed to the role
*Why Volunteer With Us?
By joining our team, you’ll be part of a movement dedicated to transforming brain tumour research. You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Make a real difference – Your time and effort will contribute directly to life-saving research
- Gain new skills – Improve your communication, fundraising, and public engagement abilities
- Meet like-minded people – Connect with a passionate community of volunteers and supporters
- Enjoy flexibility – Volunteer at times and locations that suit your schedule
Excellent support and relevant guidance is provided to all volunteers. Volunteers will receive a brief induction about Brain Tumour Research to understand the mission, vision, and importance of their role. Additionally, training will be provided on how to engage with the public, handle donations securely, and adhere to safety guidelines. Ongoing support will be available throughout the event, with staff to assist and answer any questions. Volunteers will also be provided with identification to ensure they are recognised as official collectors during their shifts.
Every interaction you have could be the moment someone chooses to support brain tumour research. Be a part of this vital mission—sign up today and help us create a future where brain tumours are no longer a life-threatening disease.

Experience required
No prior experience is required—just enthusiasm and a willingness to engage with the public. Ideal volunteers should be confident, polite, and approachable, with strong communication skills to encourage donations. A smart appearance and a positive attitude will help create a professional and friendly presence. Reliability and commitment are key, as well as the ability to handle occasional rejection gracefully. Previous fundraising or customer service experience is a plus but not essential.
