Trustee Recruitment – Join Our Board
About Common Wheel
Common Wheel supports people with mental illness by providing meaningful activities that promote wellbeing, develop skills, reduce isolation, and challenge stigma. Our four key projects focus on bikes, music, visual arts, and climbing. We work with over 500 people each year across community settings, hospital wards, and care homes.
With an annual turnover of just under £300K, we have a permanent team of eight staff, supported by dedicated volunteers and freelancers who help deliver our programmes.
The Role
We are looking for new Trustees to join our Board and help guide the organisation’s strategic direction. Our current Board includes members from both public healthcare and the private sector, bringing a range of skills and experience to support our work.
We particularly encourage expressions of interest from younger candidates, women, people from ethnic minority communities, and disabled people, as we recognise the value of diverse perspectives in strengthening our Board.
Trustee Responsibilities
As a Trustee, you will:
Ensure that Common Wheel operates in line with its objectives, governing documents, charity law, and other relevant legislation.
Provide strategic leadership and decision-making.
Work in partnership with the Project Manager to support the organisation’s aims.
