Volunteer Shop Assistant - DEBRA Barrhead

DEBRA is the national charity that funds research and healthcare to support individuals and families affected by Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) – a painful genetic skin blistering condition which, in the worst cases, can be fatal.

Whether it’s engaging with customers, creating eye-catching displays, sorting stock or more, by volunteering in one of our shops you’ll be part of a team which plays a crucial role in raising the funds to improve quality of life for people living with EB today and to secure effective drug treatments for all types of EB for tomorrow.

We're recruiting new volunteers for our popular charity shop in Barrhead. Join our friendly team and do something you'll love! Whether you're looking to learn new skills, gain experience in retail, meet new people or just have fun, our wide range of activities mean we have a perfect role for everyone.

If you are passionate about helping to make a difference through giving your time, then why not get in touch?

The role will involve:

· Serving customers and using the computerised till to take payments for purchases

· Sorting donated stock, clothing, and bric-a-brac

· Recording donor details for gift-aid

· Using a steaming appliance on donated clothes

· Assisting the shop manager with any other task to keep the shop running efficiently

Flexible, any time you can give is much appreciated, but doing at least 3-4 hours a week will help make a real difference.

What we need from you:

-A willingness to learn (if you need training, we’ll provide it)
-A willingness to uphold high shop standards
-Excellent customer service
-To be dependable, reliable, and physically able to carry out allocated tasks
-Ability to work as part of a team and on your own when required

If you are interested, please click "Apply", and we'll be in touch to arrange a chat and a visit to the centre. If you have not heard back after 5 working days, the first step is to contact the organisation with the contact details provided. You could also check your junk/spam folder on your emails just in case the response is there. If that doesn’t work out then please feel free to contact Volunteer Glasgow on info@volunteerglasgow.org.
