Join Glasgow Wood’s Board of Trustees!

Join Glasgow Wood as a Voluntary Trustee

Glasgow Wood is looking for two new Trustees to help shape our future! If you have expertise in sales & marketing, HR, health & safety, or fundraising, we’d love to hear from you.

Why Join Us?
As a Trustee, you’ll play a key role in guiding our mission to improve community wellbeing and protect the environment. You’ll help strengthen our board, navigate challenges, and ensure the long-term sustainability of Glasgow Wood.

What Does a Trustee Do?
As part of our Board, you will:

Key Responsibilities
-Serve as an ambassador for the organisation, promoting its values and mission to external stakeholders, partners, and the community.
-Oversee financial management, ensuring the organisation operates within budget and is financially sustainable.
-Attend and actively participate in regular board meetings, bringing your expertise and perspectives to decision-making.
-Contribute to the development and implementation of the organisation’s strategic plans and goals.
-Uphold legal and ethical standards, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and best practices.
-Provide guidance on risk management and help identify opportunities for organisational growth and improvement.
-Support income generation and fundraising efforts and contribute to the development of key partnerships and collaborations.

Time commitment
Mostly outside office hours, the time commitment is around 3 hours a month. In addition to attending the in-person Board meetings every 6 weeks we ask all Board members to get involved with one of our functional sub-committees, and encourage interaction with the fantastic staff members and volunteers.
What difference will you make?
You’ll help us navigate challenges and ensure the long-term sustainability of Glasgow Wood.
This is the opportunity to join an existing Board of 5 voluntary trustees all committed to creating a stable financial foundation for long term growth and impact, enabling us to support a diverse team of staff and volunteers who are all working hard to do good with wood. We encourage applications from all backgrounds to best represent our management, staff and volunteers.

What’s in It for You?
This is a rewarding opportunity to use your skills for social and environmental good. You’ll work alongside a committed team of five Trustees, supporting a diverse staff and volunteer team dedicated to doing good with wood.

We welcome applications from all backgrounds to ensure our leadership reflects the community we serve.
We’re accepting applications in written form (covering letter and CV) until Monday the 31st of March at 5pm.
Applications should be sent to peter@glasgowwood.org.uk with the subject ‘Voluntary Board Member’.
For more information or to discuss the role, please contact our founder, Peter Lavelle or Chairman, Robin Webster (robin.webster@mac.com)
