Volunteer Videographer – Help Tell Our Story
We are Blood Cancer UK, the UK’s largest blood cancer charity and a leading funder of life-saving research. For over 60 years, we've been dedicated to beating blood cancer, helping to establish the UK as a global leader in research and support.
We’re looking for skilled volunteer videographers to help capture the heart of our work. Your videos will showcase our events, community activities, and the people we support—raising awareness, engaging supporters, and highlighting the impact of our mission. If you're passionate about storytelling through video, we’d love to hear from you!
How will I be making a difference?
By producing compelling videos of our events and community activities, you’ll help tell the story of our vital work. Your footage will engage supporters, encourage donations, and highlight the importance of ongoing research, driving positive change in the fight against blood cancer.
Key activities:
As a Volunteer Videographer, you will:
• Film high-quality footage for use on our website, social media, and in both internal and external communications (copyright of all video content will belong to Blood Cancer UK).
• Capture staff, volunteers, event participants, and our blood cancer community at organised events.
• Work to a creative brief, capturing candid and posed moments at events, fundraising activities, and community initiatives.
• Edit footage using video editing software, including tasks such as trimming, colour correction, and audio enhancement.
• Liaise with the Events, Fundraising, and Marketing teams to ensure videos align with our brand.
• Process and catalogue video footage for future use.
• Collaborate with our teams to edit videos as needed, using your own editing software.
• Work alongside the Blood Cancer UK team to obtain consent when filming individuals.
• Adhering to Blood Cancer UK’s Policies and Procedures at all times.
Skills and experience
We welcome videographers of all experience levels, as long as you have:
• Access to a high-quality video camera.
• Your own video equipment and editing software.
• Confidence in using a video camera competently.
• Experience filming content for social media.
• The ability to follow a brief and work independently.
• A keen eye for detail and storytelling through video.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse audiences, including children.
• Confidence in working independently and taking initiative.
• Organisation and reliability.
Please note: Volunteer videographers should have their own insurance for equipment protection. Blood Cancer UK cannot cover damage, loss, or theft of personal filming equipment.
What will I get out of it?
· The chance to be part of exciting events and connect with inspiring individuals.
· A fun, rewarding experience while contributing to life-saving research.
· The opportunity to develop your videography skills and gain hands-on experience.
· Improved confidence and well-being through volunteering.
· Reimbursement for out-of-pocket travel expenses.
Our team will provide a briefing pack before each event, including details on the types of footage we are looking for, public transport information, meeting points, and everything else you need for the day.
