We're looking for volunteers with great local knowledge and organisational skills who can spare up to 4
hours a week to help us grow our Companion Service across Greater Glasgow.
The Companion Service offers weekly support to people in communities across Greater Glasgow affected
by a terminal illness by matching them with a specially trained volunteer. Our Lead Volunteers help us to
grow our service by carrying out a short assessment meeting with people who have been referred,
introducing our clients to the volunteers we have matched them with, and speaking to local organisations
and services about the support we can offer.
This is an ideal role for someone who is passionate about ending the loneliness and social isolation
experienced by terminally ill people and their carers as you will play a key part in ensuring we can get the
right support to the people who need it the most. You will receive training and induction when you join us
as well as ongoing training and development with our friendly team. If you've got great organisational skills,
good basic IT skills, and can easily build a rapport with someone then we would love to hear from you
Experience required
Our ideal volunteer will have a mature and sensible outlook and be comfortable talking to people from any
background. Organisational skills and the ability to follow our policies and procedures will be vital for this
role. Good knowledge of local organisations in and around Glasgow and of health and social care will be
highly desirable. Basic IT skills will be a requirement. The most important quality will be open mindedness
and putting the needs of our clients at the heart of everything you do
