Driver

Greener Kirkcaldy is a community-led charity, working locally to bring people together, take positive action on the climate emergency and support people through fuel poverty and food insecurity. The charity is looking for a volunteer driver to drive their electric van to collect food donations, which will be used within Greener Kirkcaldy’s community fridge and distributed to the public

The main duties include:

-Driving to Bookers in Kirkcaldy to pick up food donations on a Monday and/or Tuesday (1.45pm – 3pm)


-Loading food donations on to the van. This may involve large, heavy boxes


-Driving back to Greener Kirkcaldy and unloading the donations


If you are interested in sustainability and helping the community, this may be the ideal role for you.


Experience required

A full UK driving licence for automatic or manual cars is required and experience of driving a large van is essential. Drivers must be reliable, friendly and happy to work on their own. A willingness to lift large loads is required.

The opportunity take place from Greener Kirkcaldy, 8 East Fergus Place, Kirkcaldy which is accessible by both public and private transport.

Training details

An induction to Greener Kirkcaldy(GK) will be provided, which will include a tour of the building and an overview of the activities of Greener Kirkcaldy .An induction in practical van driving and charging the van will be given and the delivery route will be shown and practiced before the driver goes out on their own. Manual handling training, First Aid training and Carbon Literacy training are also available. The driver will be supported by the team lead and the volunteer coordinator.
