Recovery Scotland - Falkirk

At Recovery Scotland, we believe recovery is possible for all and that with the right support, everyone can reach their full potential. We provide trauma informed, solution focussed and person-centred support, including our two highly respected peer-led recovery communities in Forth Valley and North Lanarkshire, physical and mental health wellbeing activities, education and employability programmes plus more. We provide opportunities for over 100 people each week and over 90% of our 23 staff members have lived experience of addiction.
As a trustee, you'll play a crucial role in the strategic and financial management and governance of Recovery Scotland. You'll work alongside fellow trustees and the senior team to ensure our provision for people in recovery is effective, sustainable and responsive to the needs of people in our recovery communities. This is a particularly exciting time to join the Board, with a talented and dynamic new management team in post, including plans to develop a community-led strategy over the coming months.
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience or expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Financial management/accounting
- Human Resources
- Legal sector
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Contribute to the development and implementation of Recovery Scotland's upcoming strategic plan, supporting the Chief Executive and staff team.
- Governance: Ensure that Recovery Scotland operates in compliance with its governing documents, charity law, and other relevant legislation and regulations.
- Financial Oversight: Monitor the financial health of the organisation, approving budgets and ensuring that financial controls and risk management procedures are robust and effective.
- Advocacy and Representation: Act as an ambassador for Recovery Scotland, enhancing its public profile and fostering relationships with stakeholders, including funders, partners, and the communities we work in.
- Support and Development: Provide guidance and support to Recovery Scotland's Chief Executive and senior team, ensuring that resources are used effectively and staff and volunteers are valued and motivated.
Travel details
Trustees are expected to attend online board meetings (every month) and the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Travel expenses
Recovery Scotland are unable to reimburse travel expenses.
Support
Training details
Trustees are subject to regular training on policies and procedures to support the Board and the service delivery.
Restrictions
Minimum age: 25
Frequency & commitment
The total time commitment is estimated to be approximately 4 to 6 hours per month.
Volunteers (aged 25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
