Macmillan Cancer Support & Information Volunteer

We are looking for volunteers for our Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Hubs in Lanarkshire.

What you will be doing:
Meeting and greeting people affected by cancer, providing a warm welcome to the Macmillan Service.
Offering a listening ear and informal support, giving people an opportunity to talk about their experiences.
Assessing their information and support needs.
Helping visitors to find appropriate information booklets and signposting to local support services.
Collecting basic data on support provided to people affected by cancer.

This is both a South Lanarkshire & North Lanarkshire opportunity with volunteers needed in our Libraries in Rutherglen (Wednesdays 1.30pm – 3.30pm),
East Kilbride (Mondays 10am – 2pm), Coatbridge (Thursdays 10am – 12 noon) and Wishaw (Wednesdays 1.30pm – 3.30pm)


Experience required

Training details

No previous experience required. You will receive two days of training initially and then ongoing Learning & Development sessions to give you the skills needed to carry out this role. Full support given.
