Drivers Mate - Kirkcaldy

The Cairn Centre is Trust in Fife’s charity shop which is part of their wider housing and homelessness charity.

The role involves assisting the Retail Supervisor and Van Driver with the running and the day-to-day organisation of the Collection/ Delivery Service for the Cairn Centre charity shop. Being part of the team that is out on the van delivering goods purchased from the shop and collecting goods being donated to the shop.

Experience required

Be fit and able to lift and move large, bulky heavy items in and out of the shop, van and houses of various sizes, be polite, of good manner and be able to work within a team and take instruction from the Van Driver and others.

Travel details

The opportunity is at The Cairn Centre, 83-85 Dunnikier Road, Kirkcaldy, between 10.30am and 4pm. Volunteers are required to make their own way to the shop and will have the equivalent of the cost of a bus fare returned to them as travel expenses.

Training details

An induction will be given which will include an overview of the organisation, organisational procedures and training and support provided. Training will include using the till and card machine, dealing with telephone enquiries, customer service, sorting of goods and Pat testing. Peer learning is provided, and training events are held quarterly.
