Volunteer Board Member

Are you looking for a new interest?

Do you have some spare time to gift to a charity?

Could you be one of our board members?

Established more than 25 years, Advocacy North East is a local, rights based, independent advocacy organisation that strengthens the voice of those who are most at risk of exclusion and speaks up for those who might otherwise go unheard.

We are looking for board members who believe in social justice, equal opportunities and inclusion who share our values and would like to become part of our well respected team.

As a non-executive director and trustee of the charity you will help oversee our activities and set a vision for the organisation. Through effective governance, you will also make sure we fulfil our charitable purpose, comply with regulation and deliver against our strategic aims. Becoming a trustee is an exciting opportunity to benefit society and really make a difference to your community. It can be a hugely rewarding and exciting role. Trustees not only give their time, skills and experience to a good cause, they can also learn new and useful skills too!

Our board meetings take place bi-monthly in Aberdeen and last about 3 hours. In addition to this we require 1-2 hours a month desktop governance monitoring and reviewing interim reports from our operational managers. In return you will be able to expand your skills and knowledge of governance and financial matters.

Not sure if this role is for you? Have a no obligation informal chat first or come along and meet us and find out more about how we work.

Applications are welcomed from people over the age of 18 and from diverse backgrounds, however we would particularly encourage applications from younger adults, people with disabilities and people from ethnic minority backgrounds.

If becoming a trustee appeals to you or you would like an informal chat about this voluntary role please contact our helpful and friendly admin team directly on 01467 651604 or email admin@advocacyne.org.uk to register your interest.

We look forward to hearing from you.
