Member Supporter

The RVS Meeting centre aims to reduce the stress people living with dementia experience in a hospital setting by providing a safe, sociable space for people to take part in activities with others.

You are very likely to be the right person for this role if you are sociable, enjoy being with other people, can help to create a positive and welcoming environment and commit to volunteering one day per week.

You will:

· be a valued member of our small, friendly team
· support members from their wards to the meeting centre
· welcome members to the group, take part in chat, activities and outings
· listen to members ideas for things to do and help organise and deliver these,
· share your skills
· help with the preparation of refreshments and the washing up!
· Enjoy training on the meeting centre model and…
· give something back to the local community and have fun!

Experience required

We are looking for people who like being with other people, who are sociable with a real sense of fun and responsibility. Potential volunteers will be able to demonstrate empathy, patience and be able to ensure that everyone can participate. You will be flexible and adaptable, knowing that it is often more important to listen than speak and understand that doing the washing up is just as important as anything else!
