Volunteer

This is a brilliant time to get involved in Dundee Women’s Aid as we expand our scheme connecting women in the local community. As part of this, we are looking for volunteers who will:

· Be matched with a woman who has or is using the support services provided by Dundee Women’s Aid
· Meet up with a woman (and possibly her children) on a regular basis (at least 3 times a month) to provide her with a connection in the local community
· Support a woman in identifying and developing an area(s) she’d like to work on, for example, developing skills such as sewing, DIY or other skills you may have which may be of interest to the women we support when they are moving out of refuge into their own tenancy
· Complete paperwork in relation to this role
· Attend events and help to organize social activities with other volunteers and women using/who have used the service
· Contribute to the promotion of and publicity for groups

· Natural leaders who can organize people around activities
· Empathetic and who enjoy working as part of a team
· Committed to the aims and values of Dundee Women’s Aid
· Able to talk to people from all walks of life
· Understanding of the importance of confidentiality, data protection and maintaining boundaries.

Support
Training details

8 x 2-hour training sessions over an 8-week period provided to all prospective volunteers which looks at the dynamics of Domestic Abuse, the history of Dundee Women’s Aid, volunteering at DWA, and managing situations and boundaries. After completing this training, you will then participate in an individual induction. Further training opportunities will also be on offer throughout your time as a volunteer and will be agreed with you as development needs are identified.
