Treasurer Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Oversight & Guidance
   Help the board make sound financial decisions.
   Keep an eye on the charity’s financial health and long-term sustainability.
   Identify and manage any financial risks.




2. Budgeting & Planning
   Oversee the preparation of the annual accounts and support planning for the future.
   Track income and spending to ensure they match the charity’s goals.

   
   



3. Reporting & Legal Compliance
   Make sure financial reports are accurate and shared clearly with the board.
   Ensure the charity meets its legal and reporting obligations (e.g., Charity Commission, HMRC).
   Support the annual review or examination of the accounts.

   
   



4. Cash Flow & Banking
   Ensure clear financial controls and procedures are in place.
   Oversee banking arrangements, payments, and signatory authorisations.

   
   



5. Income & Fund Management
   Make sure funds—both restricted and unrestricted—are properly managed.
   Work with the Project Manager and Fundraiser to support the long-term financial needs of the charity.

   
   



6. Governance & Board Support
   Provide financial updates and advice at board meetings.
   Take part in strategy discussions with a focus on financial matters.
