Walking Group Volunteer

Seescape support over 3500 people with severe visual impairments in Fife for their Dunfermline walking group. They require enthusiastic and sociable volunteers to join their group of visually impaired walkers. They are keen to help, not only to prevent those with visual impairments from becoming socially isolated but to encourage as many as possible to remain physically active. Volunteers are sought from across Fife in the hope of being able to expand this activity in other areas of Fife while also complimenting the current volunteers in Dunfermline.

This is an opportunity for volunteers to make a real difference to the lives of some of our most vulnerable members of society, to give them a structure and foster new friendships. This role may appeal to those in retirement, semi-retirement or people with spare time on their hands who would like to give something back to the community while themselves experiencing the great outdoors.

Experience required

Volunteers are required to be trustworthy, reliable, caring, empathetic, positive and patient. They should have a good level of common sense, strong social skills and be a good listener. No experience of supporting those with visual impairments is required as full training will be provided.

The group currently meets weekly for around one hour in Pittencrieff Park, Dunfermline which is accessible by public transport and by car.
