Scotland’s Memory Walk Fundraising and Engagement Volunteers - Alzheimer Scotland (Aberdeen)

*About this event

Family, friends and colleagues will be coming together to honour and remember their loved ones at Alzheimer Scotland’s Aberdeen Memory Walk which takes place on Sunday 24 August 2024 at Aberdeen Sports Village, Linksfield Road, Aberdeen. Would you like to help support the running of this event, which aims for all participants to enjoy old memories while creating new ones?

*Volunteering details

Alzheimer Scotland is accepting applications from people to join a team of Fundraising and Engagement Volunteers to support the setting up and delivery of our Aberdeen Memory Walk 2025. Taking place in with the Aberdeen Sports Village you can make a significant difference helping participants to celebrate the people we love while raising vital funds for Dementia.

Your role on the day would include the following tasks:

-Assisting with the set up/break down at the venue which will include setting up of welcome signage, banners, posters, music system and Alzheimer Scotland information tents/tables and reception desk.
-Meeting and greeting of our supporters/event participants, friends, and family, helping to guide them from arrival to the stadium, through the reception area and to the start point of the walk. Volunteers will be supported to sign post any questions and queries to a member of the Fundraising and Engagement and Brain Health Team that attendees may have.
-Meeting and greeting of guest speakers, supporting locality and Brain Health Scotland teams with the setting up of their stands
-Supporting the provision of bottled water and fruit to all participants throughout the event.
-Cheer squad participation to encourage our fantastic supporters/event participants as they complete their 5k walk.

No experience of volunteering or in-depth knowledge of Dementia is necessary as full support will be provided by the Fundraising and Engagement Team on the day, with a volunteer briefing provided. It is important that volunteers enjoy meeting and talking to new people and feel able to sign post requests and queries when required.

A fantastic opportunity to help with a major event, leading charity and make a real difference for people with Dementia. All volunteer assistance is greatly appreciated.
