The Inverness and Western Isles branch of the SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity is hoping to attract a new Branch Chair to lead the way for veterans in the community. The role of SSAFA Inverness and Western Isles chair would suit someone who is keen to provide leadership and oversee all aspects of the branch. You don’t need a military background, but experience of managing people and good IT skills is required. You would need a weekly commitment to this role but is flexible around your other commitments. Some requirement to travel to attend meetings with other Chairs from across the region as well as your local branch. SSAFA covers all travel and other expenses that you may incur in your role.
The Branch Chair provides leadership to the Branch ensuring that all activities comply with SSAFA regulations and supporting volunteers in key roles and identifying candidates for future opportunities, ensures the financial integrity of the Branch, and overseeing a local fundraising programme to raise funds for SSAFA and overseeing an appropriate programme of awareness-raising so that potential clients, volunteers and supporters know how to contact the branch.

Training details
Role specific training to prepare you for your voluntary role – caseworker training, caseworker IT system training, volunteer management – attracting, recruiting, and inducting volunteers.
• Mandatory on-line training modules to complete at home, so you are up to date on how to keep clients, their families safe and personal information safe.
• Local orientation as well as meet and greet sessions with key Central Office and regional teams.
• Access to a range additional e-learning courses as well as local opportunities for your personal and professional development.
• Support from Regional and central staff and peer support from fellow Chairs in neighbouring branches.
• Reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses
• Volunteers will be covered by SSAFAs Public Liability Insurance whilst carrying out the role.

Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
