Event Volunteers

The Queer Breakfast Club in Grangemouth is a volunteer-led, registered charity based in Falkirk, supporting LGBTIQ+ people across the region. Since our launch in January, we've seen rapid growth—welcoming over 60 attendees to our weekly peer support group, achieving registered charity status, and receiving both local and national award nominations. In June, we proudly hosted Falkirk’s first Pride celebration in years, highlighting the community’s need for visible and inclusive spaces. We currently run fortnightly groups at the Grangemouth Community Education Unit.

Our volunteers are the friendly face of our groups. They help set up a welcoming environment, assist the safeguarding officer and group host, offer support to attendees, and contribute to the smooth running of each session. The role is flexible—you can choose which groups or events you'd like to support. By volunteering with us, you'll be making a real difference in your community while building connections and having fun along the way!

You may be asked to do any of the following, depending on the needs of the group or event:
● Greet attendees and help create a welcoming environment
● Assist the safeguarding officer and group host during the group
● Set up the coffee and tea table to help create a relaxed, social space
● Distribute flyers and information during the group
● Answer general enquiries
● Help with setup and tidy-up (e.g. putting out resources, clearing away)

Experience required

Skills and qualities that would be helpful in this role:
● Friendly and approachable nature – helping create a warm, inclusive atmosphere
● Good communication skills – being able to chat, listen, and support others comfortably
● Willingness to pitch in – from making tea to tidying up, every bit helps
● An interest in supporting the LGBTIQ+ community – no prior knowledge needed, just an open heart
● Reliability and punctuality – turning up when you say you will helps the team run smoothly
● Respect for confidentiality and boundaries – especially when supporting peer-led spaces
● Openness to learning – you don’t need experience, just a willingness to grow
