Opportunity Summary
Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity opened our first high street shop in Buchanan Galleries in 2022. We sell a range of baby & child clothes as well as larger pieces of furniture (cots, changing tables etc.), books and toys. Our shop is open 7 days a week and our volunteers support with a variety of different tasks.

Volunteer Tasks


Preparing clothes for going out on the shop floor
Serving customers and processing their transactions
General housekeeping tasks
Sorting through donations

Shift Times


10:00am to 1:00pm
1:00pm to 4:00pm

Volunteer Support Information


Induction & Training


All volunteers receive a full induction before their first shift.
Training includes:
Health & safety procedures for the shop
Basic cash handling procedures
Customer service guidance for interacting with supporters
Retail setup for merchandise sales

Supervision & Onsite Support


Each shift has a GCHC staff member present.
Volunteers are always supported while on duty—whether it’s their first or fifth shift.
Help is on hand to deal with any unexpected issues or questions from the public.

Wellbeing & Inclusion


GCHC is committed to creating an inclusive, welcoming space for all volunteers.
Volunteers can share any access or support needs during onboarding.

Recognition


Volunteers are warmly recognised and thanked throughout their journey with us.
Volunteer hours are recognised with a small gift with each hours milestone reached.
