Trustee

Help steer a sustainability minded Scottish charity that empowers marginalised women through creative textile skills development and community.

ReTweed is a small, values-led charity based in Eyemouth, supporting marginalised women through creative textile training programmes that build skills, confidence and connections. Course participants produce items made from donated and reclaimed textiles that are then sold in the ReTweed shop and online store. The repurposed textiles become a unique artwork with a story to tell that is the result of a proud learning journey.

Right now, we’re rebuilding our board following a period of organisational and trustee changes. As a result, the charity’s future is uncertain, and we’re urgently seeking new trustees to help secure the incredible work ReTweed has been doing in the community and to safeguard the jobs of the dedicated local women who make it happen.

This is an opportunity to:

  • Help shape the recovery and future of a vital charity with a strong mission

  • Support a committed team delivering meaningful social impact

  • Bring your knowledge, skills and passion to a charity in need of innovation and fresh thinking

We’re especially keen to hear from people with skills in:

  • Finance/accountancy

  • Legal/governance

  • Fundraising

  • Community or charity work

No prior trustee experience is required – but please note that structured trustee support is currently very limited. This will be a collaborative effort, with trustees working together to stabilise the organisation and build a solid foundation for the future. Ideally, candidates will be based in Scotland and knowledge of/residence in the Borders would be a bonus, however, board meetings are conducted virtually so localised location is not essential.

Due to the urgency of the call out, appointment of trustees will be done on a rolling basis as suitable candidates come forward.
