Volunteer Handyperson – Lend a Hand and Make a Difference!

Be the Helping Hands of Sense Scotland!

Looking for a practical way to give back and make a real difference?

Join us as a Volunteer Handyperson and use your skills to help keep our spaces safe, tidy, and welcoming for everyone. Whether you're retired, between jobs, studying, or simply keen to lend a hand, we’d love to hear from you!
We’re looking for volunteers who can give a few hours a week—whether that’s one morning, an afternoon, or a full day—we’ll work around what suits you best.

Why Volunteer with Sense Scotland?

At Sense Scotland, we support children and adults with complex needs to live their best lives. Our buildings and spaces play a huge part in that—and that’s where you come in! As a Volunteer Handyperson, you’ll assist with small repairs, odd jobs, and general upkeep, ensuring our services remain safe and pleasant for everyone who uses them.

We’re currently looking for a Volunteer Handyperson to support our TouchBase Glasgow Service, based in Kinning Park.

What You’ll Be Doing

Depending on your skills and interests, you might help with:
• Painting and decorating
• Minor repairs (e.g., fixing door handles/ shelves or replacing toilet seats)
• Basic gardening or outdoor tidy-ups
• Hanging notice boards or pictures
• General DIY tasks around the building

Hours: Flexible—anywhere between ~2 to 12 hours per week; you choose what fits your schedule

Support You Can Expect

Induction & Training

You’ll receive a full induction at TouchBase Glasgow to introduce you to:

The building and facilities
Health and safety procedures
The people you'll be supporting indirectly

Role-specific guidance is provided—e.g., on how to carry out tasks safely (like using tools or working at height)

Ready to get involved?

To apply, click the ‘apply’ button (available when logged in and registered). You will then be contacted by the coordinator via email or phone.

If you haven’t heard back within five working days, please first contact the organisation using the provided details, and check your junk or spam folders just in case. If you still need support, feel free to contact Volunteer Glasgow at info@volunteerglasgow.org.

Experience required

You don’t need to be a qualified tradesperson—just practical, reliable, and happy to roll up your sleeves. If you’re good at fixing things, painting, putting up shelves, or general DIY, we’d love to have you on board.
