Make a meaningful difference by helping people in crisis access the support they need. You’ll review referrals, connect clients to essential services, and issue energy vouchers to ease immediate hardship. Full training is provided—no prior experience required.
What You’ll Do
- Review referrals from foodbanks and grant schemes to identify urgent needs and prioritise support.
- Signpost clients to relevant services, such as local advice agencies, energy assistance programmes, and community support networks.
- Communicate with clients via email or phone, offering clear, compassionate guidance and follow-up.
- Issue pre approved energy vouchers to eligible clients using a straightforward process.
- Record notes and outcomes using simple templates to ensure accurate and confidential documentation
Experience required
Must be available for 2-5 hours per week between Mon–Fri, 9–4.
Good communication skills, empathy, willingness to learn.
No prior advice experience required.

Frequency & commitment
2–5 hours/week (Mon–Fri, between 9am–4pm)
Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
