Volunteer Befriender

Support may include the following:
Listening and talking.
Providing companionship (e.g going for a cup of tea).
Providing a supportive relationship to reduce feelings of isolation, offer reassurance and increase confidence.
Provide feedback after each session.
You will be required to obtain a PVG membership (no cost to volunteer).

You will receive an induction and training however this role is unsupervised in the community.

You will need access to a car of public transport unless you are supporting someone virtually.

You will receive agreed expenses as per our expenses policy, when necessary.

We hope that you will gain many things from volunteering with us, here are just a few:
Become part of a hardworking and happy team.
Make a real difference to someone' life.
Make a positive contribution to your community.
Enhance your CV by developing your communication and listening skills.
Training opportunities.

We would suggest expecting to contribute around 1 hour for listening and talking through virtual support and 2 hours for providing companionship in person. When committing your time, please bear in mind that the isolated person may start their journey with a phone call, then progress to in person companionship. The journey is usually over a 12 week period.
