This work experience placement offers an introduction to working in a small finance team within a charity. It’s designed for someone with no prior accounting experience but an interest in finance, administration, or the charity sector. You’ll gain hands-on experience with basic finance tasks and learn how financial processes support charitable work.

This work experience placement offers an introduction to working in a small finance team within a charity. It’s designed for someone with no prior accounting experience but an interest in finance, administration, or the charity sector. You’ll gain hands-on experience with basic finance tasks and learn how financial processes support charitable work.
What you will be doing
- Data Entry: Recording financial transactions such as donations, invoices, and expenses into spreadsheets or finance software.
- Document Management: Organising and filing receipts, invoices, and other financial documents (digitally or physically).
- Reconciliation Support: The process of comparing two sets of records to make sure they match and are accurate. This is a key financial control to ensure transactions are properly recorded and accounted for.
- Spreadsheet Work: Updating simple Excel sheets used for budgeting or tracking income and expenditure.
- Shadowing: Observing finance team members during meetings or while preparing reports.
- General Admin: Supporting with printing, scanning, and preparing paperwork as required.
- Mandatory Training: LearnPro online modules as required for the role

Volunteers (aged 16-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
