Finance Assistant Volunteer

This work experience placement offers an introduction to working in a small finance team within a charity. It’s designed for someone with no prior accounting experience but an interest in finance, administration, or the charity sector. You’ll gain hands-on experience with basic finance tasks and learn how financial processes support charitable work.

It’s designed for someone with no prior accounting experience but an interest in finance, administration, or the charity sector. You’ll gain hands-on experience with basic finance tasks and learn how financial processes support charitable work.


What you will be doing



  • Data Entry: Recording financial transactions such as donations, invoices, and expenses into spreadsheets or finance software.

  • Document Management: Organising and filing receipts, invoices, and other financial documents (digitally or physically).

  • Reconciliation Support: The process of comparing two sets of records to make sure they match and are accurate. This is a key financial control to ensure transactions are properly recorded and accounted for.

  • Spreadsheet Work: Updating simple Excel sheets used for budgeting or tracking income and expenditure.

  • Shadowing: Observing finance team members during meetings or while preparing reports.

  • General Admin: Supporting with printing, scanning, and preparing paperwork as required.

  • Mandatory Training: LearnPro online modules as required for the role
