Community Lunch helper

Help us collect surplus food from FARE Share and transporting it back to FARE, helping to provide ingredients for our weekly Community Lunch. You will play a key role in ensuring food arrives safely and on time, supporting our mission to reduce waste and feed the community.

What You Can Get Involved In:

• Accompanying staff on the journey from FARE to Fare Share
• Helping to load and unload food items
• Assisting with sorting and storing food back at FARE
• Supporting staff with any additional tasks to ensure smooth delivery and preparation
• Being a friendly and reliable presence during the food collection process


Commitment:


We’re looking for volunteers who can support us weekly on Thursdays, starting from September. You will need to be available from 8:30am–10am to assist with the food collection and delivery. Although we have an ideal time commitment in mind, we’re flexible — even a little time makes a big difference, and we would love to hear from you!


Volunteers will come from a wide range of backgrounds and will have many different qualities and skills. We are looking for:
• A helpful and dependable attitude
• Willingness to work as part of a team
• Reliability and punctuality
• Respect for food safety and confidentiality
• No experience required — just a positive attitude and a desire to help!

Travel details

The journey begins at 31 Drumlanrig Avenue, Bannatyne House, G34 0JF - food is then collected from FareShare at 1070 South Street, G14 0AP and brought back to Bannatyne House.

Travel expenses

Volunteers may request reimbursement for reasonable, pre-approved expenses incurred on behalf of FARE Scotland by submitting valid receipts. Examples of reimbursable expenses include:
• Travel between home and the volunteering site and travel during volunteering activities.
• Meal costs up to £7.00 (with receipts) when volunteering for four or more consecutive hours.
• Specialist clothing required for the role, subject to prior discussion and approval
