Board Director

Into Work is an award-winning charity currently looking for values-driven people to join the Board of Directors who play a vital role in shaping the direction and growth of the organisation.


Lived experience and co-production are at the heart of what we do.


We are particularly keen to hear from people with skills and experience in one, or more, of the following areas:


· Policy landscape / political environment.


· Funding environment, Local / National Government or Third Sector.


· Commercial and business development.


· Diversity and lived experience.


· Marketing or PR.


· Digital transformation, IT, Cyber Security.


The Board of Directors are volunteers and meet about six times a year.


Experience required


  1. Undertake all activity for Into Work in line with our core values.

  2. Comply with our policies and procedures.

  3. Join at least one Board Committee or take on an individual role.

  4. Be able to communicate via email.


Travel details

Mostly working from home, though a couple of times a year you may be asked to go to Norton Park in Leith for a meeting. The closest buses are the 35 and the 1, though it is also close to Leith Walk which has many more buses, and the tram.

Travel expenses

We will pay reasonable costs, including travel, where Directors attend ad hoc events as an Into Work representative. Expenses must be agreed with the Chief Executive of Finance Manager in advance. Receipts must be produced for reimbursement.

Support
Training details

New Directors may not be confident in their knowledge or experience of all board responsibilities laid out above. We arrange and fund appropriate training on general duties of the Board for all Directors.

Minimum age: 18
We are unable to consider applications from individuals who would be disqualified from being a Trustee or Director by the Companies Act or the Charity Act, including anyone who has been convicted of a crime of deception or dishonesty, unless the conviction
