Lifeboat Operations Manager - Arbroath

THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE:
This role will help us save lives at sea by carrying out
the day to day management of the lifeboat station to
ensure a permanent state of readiness for service.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

• Leading the operations team in managing the
station personnel and its volunteers.


• Ensuring regular meetings are held with the
operations team and encourage open
communication


• Ensuring all operational activities are carried out to
maintain the lifeboat and all associated
equipment in a constant state of readiness for
launching on service


• Liaising and maintaining close links with all local
emergency services and representing the RNLI’s
interests locally in all operational matters


• In co-operation with the relevant RNLI personnel,
ensuring that the RNLI Competency Framework
requirements for staff and volunteers are fulfilled


• Be a member of the Lifeboat Management Group
and keeping the group up to date with relevant
operational matters


• Raising awareness of RNLI welfare support
functions within the station.


• Option to carry out the role of Launch Authority,
authorising launch of the lifeboats (and hovercraft
if appropriate), in accordance with current
launching procedures.


POTENTIAL TIME COMMITMENTS: Flexible with weekly
requirements

WHO YOU'LL MANAGE: Station personnel and
volunteers


KEY REQUIREMENTS:
This role has a tenure of 3 years and requires review
on an annual basis. Tenure can be extended to a
maximum of 9 years.


SAFEGAURDING:
The RNLI is committed to safeguarding and promoting
the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults and
expects all volunteers to share this commitment and
comply with the RNLI Safeguarding Policy and
procedures.


Where applicable we will carry out appropriate
safeguarding checks (ie DBS, PVG or Garda checks)
Safeguarding level 3 : Awareness and
understanding of safeguarding policy required and
online safeguarding training module required to be
completed upon commencement of role


Experience required

What do you need for this role?

• Good interpersonal skills and leadership
experience.

• Excellent communications skills


• (Optional) Local maritime or inland waterway
knowledge
