Suggested Activities
-Provide support for the Health & Wellbeing Advisors, specialist exercise instructors and HCPs during physical activity sessions e.g. circuit classes, seated exercise, strength & balance, gym sessions, and health walks
-Provide meaningful interaction with class participants, encouraging and enabling them do the exercises prescribed to them in a safe manner
Help participants with equipment as required e.g., setting up weight machines in the gym
Engage with participants following sessions where tea/coffee is provided (where applicable) and gather feedback from the class to help evaluate and improve the programme.
-Support the development and delivery of health promotion workshops, helping to raise awareness around physical activity, wellbeing and lifestyle choices.
Requirements
- Be able to interact and converse with people of all ages and backgrounds
- Possess good listening and communication skills
- Have a basic understanding understanding of the benefits physical activity has in relation to good mental and physical health and how it can support further positive lifestyle change
-An interest in working with the inactive and long-term conditions population
-Understand the importance of confidentially
-Ability to work as part of a team
What the volunteer will gain from this

-The opportunity to improve knowledge on how to adapt delivery of class to suit mixed abilities and needs

-Improve confidence in working with specialist populations
-Make a real difference to the lives of people living with mental or physical health conditions and have an impact on supporting positive lifestyle changes.

Volunteers (aged 11-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
