The group meets regularly in-person and needs someone to lead the group, coordinate the group volunteers, and to facilitate a group session.
The Group Leader role is vital to the smooth running of the group and will be the point of contact for all group related matters.
What you will be doing
Plan and arrange in-person group meetings and activities.
Coordinate volunteer involvement and encourage them to work as a team.
Send out information to group members via email, text or on social media.
Ensure group compliance with NAS policies including risk assessment, data protection and safeguarding.
Attend in-person at the venue for the group to lead an autism friendly session, provide a friendly face to those coming along and make sure everyone can engage in activity in a safe, respectful manner.
Keep your Branch Chair and Committee informed about group activities and events
Raise the profile of the NAS within your group and local community.
Experience required
Good knowledge, skills and experience relevant to the role and user group.
Able to engage participants in an inclusive way and support their involvement in the group in the way they feel most comfortable.
Able to organise and plan ahead.
Able to motivate people and help people work together.
Have patience, empathy and warmth and be able to maintain confidentiality.
Knowledge and experience of autism.
Able to communicate confidently with group participants, other volunteers and Committee Members.
Able to tackle difficult situations sensitively and involve the Branch Chair or Senior Branch Engagement Officer where necessary.
Access to a computer with internet access.
Confident using Outlook, Word and Microsoft Teams

When and where Rutherglen United Reformed Church- Rutherglen, South Lanarkshire in Scotland You need to be based in the United Kingdom and live within easy travelling distance of the Rutherglen area. Attendance of the group session in person, to facilitate and lead the groups sessions Day: on the 2nd Saturday of the month Time: 1.00-2.30 pm
Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
