Sighted Guide (Queens Park)

Would you like to give practical help to people with sight loss? RNIB are looking for volunteers to act as sighted guides to support our weekly walking group at Queens Park in Glasgow's Southside.
Our community groups are always looking for sighted guide volunteers to assist attendees and ensure their comfort and safety. If you are passionate about helping others to get out and about then this may be the perfect role for you.
You would be directly supporting blind and partially sighted people by guiding them on their walk around Queen's Park.
Perhaps you have some free time during the week to give something back, enjoy meeting new people or want to develop your skills, we'd love to hear from you. Our Queens Park walking group meet every Monday morning from 10am for approximately 90 minutes. We ask that you can commit to at least 2 walks per month but are welcome to assist every week.
We are looking for enthusiastic and caring individuals who are chatty and active. As this is a walking group with varied abilities, a good level of physical health is expected. RNIB will provide relevant training including how to guide a blind person and safeguarding training in addition to regustration of Scotland's PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) scheme. Volunteer travel expenses are also covered and we welcome applicants from across Glasgow.
If you are interested please click the ‘Apply’ button below (available when logged in and registered). You will then be contacted by the coordinator by email or phone call. If you have not heard back after 5 working days, the first step is to contact the organisation with the contact details provided. You could also check your junk/spam folder on your emails just in case the response is there. If that doesn’t work out then please feel free to contact Volunteer Glasgow on [email protected]
