Creative Hangouts Children's Arts & Crafts Workshop Assistant Volunteer - The Pyramid Anderston

Are you aged 18-25 and looking for an opportunity to develop the experience and skills you need to access employment or education whilst also contributing meaningfully to your community? At Creative Hangouts we want to support you to achieve your goals.
Creative Hangouts is a grassroots arts organisation committed to opening creative opportunities for children and young people in local communities. We believe that every child deserves to learn about art in a fun, safe and child-led environment.
Volunteering with Creative Hangouts is more than just helping out—it's about becoming part of a dynamic, inclusive team that nurtures creativity, play, and child-led expression. Our volunteers support the delivery of visual arts workshops that are fun, exploratory, and grounded in the needs and interests of the children who attend.  You’ll receive shadowing opportunities, a budget for training and on-going support to help you grow in confidence, creativity, and communication skills. There is also the opportunity to run your own workshop with support and supervision! You will also join a supportive network of artists and creatives who care deeply about young people’s access to the arts and making a real impact in the community. Together, we can create a safe and happy environment where children and volunteers can thrive.
We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic people aged 18-25 who may be facing difficulties entering employment or education that can commit to volunteering weekly or every other week beginning in February 2026.
What you can gain from volunteering with Creative Hangouts:
Develop personally and professionally through hands-on experience in arts facilitation, child development, and community engagement.
Gain valuable skills such as teamwork, workshop delivery, and communication.
Receive support at every stage: from shadowing experienced artists to a budget for training, regular feedback, and the opportunity to explore your own goals and strengths within a creative environment.
Grow your network and confidence: work alongside passionate creatives, educators, and changemakers who are committed to community wellbeing and inclusive practice.
Feel valued and empowered as a core part of a team that respects your input, encourages your ideas, and recognises your contribution to building something meaningful.
How you can help Creative Hangouts:
To deliver workshops to children in the communities that align with our values
The lead artist has the support needed to be able to concentrate on delivering the teaching of the activity
We value your unique contributions and feedback
Volunteers extend the reach and impact of every session by helping to manage materials, support children 1:1, and respond to the energy and flow of each workshop.
Strengthen organisational capacity by cultivating a pool of engaged volunteers who can take on responsibilities over time—including workshop delivery, outreach and leadership opportunities.
Deepen community impact by fostering long-term relationships between volunteers, families, and local artists—ensuring Creative Hangouts is recognised as a hub of inclusion, empowerment, and grassroots creativity.
How we can positively impact our community together!
Access high-quality, free visual arts workshops in a relaxed, child-led environment that puts fun, exploration, and creativity at the centre.
Benefit from consistent, caring support from volunteers who listen, encourage, and respond to their individual needs—creating a safe space to try new things and build resilience.
Form trusting relationships with role models who reflect the values of empathy, curiosity, and collaboration.
Help young people have ownership of their creative journeys by shaping workshop activities, showcasing their art in community exhibitions, and learning at their own pace.
