Steering Group member

Friends of St Mary's Kirk are a small group looking to purchase the church and repurpose it as a heritage hub and community venue. We are at an early stage in our development of this project and are looking for people who can help across a myriad of needs. There is no limit on time, you just need passion.
We are looking for people with skills at creating plans, organising events or fundraising. People who may have experience putting on exhibitions , can take photos or create films and video content for our website. Someone with bookkeeping skills who can spare some time. People who may have experience of this type of project before or with seeking grant funding and can help with the application process. Or maybe you are a whiz at customer surveys of all kinds
We are a merry, albeit small band of committed volunteers who are trying to bring a huge project to fruition. We need your support to help.
Whilst we have places for new Trustees on the board that is not a requirement. We want you to be comfortable with us.
We are trying to widen the skill set on the steering group board . Whilst we have no defined volunteer roles each works within their own expertise. At the moment we have a wide set of skills ranging from historians , artists to ex civil servants. All of us are reaching into the unknown when it comes to fundraising for big projects and grant applications as well as heritage matters. We are looking for passionate people who will help fill some skill gaps.
You will be asked to work with us helping put together a solid business plan or planning strategy for third party funders.
To do this requires researchers for all things like historical facts to restrictions on converting old churches to finding the best bank account.
It requires people able to write or edit applications , vistior boards and alll sorts of documents-
Keeping the community up to date will require someone who can write social media content and also newsletters. We need canvassers for community surveys who will collate the community interaction.
We will need a bookkeeper and project manager. You will be asked to keep track of fundraising and also the grant monies and stage payments ( at a later stage).
Each role seems to be distinct but it maybe you have skills across all sectors.
There are no set hours to be kept. We will be as flexible as you need and will lay down any deadlines as soon as is practicable for the project.
Most of all we need that person who loves a quirky project , and is passionate about what they do and wants to share it with us.
