Where you will be based : Community (The Borders, in the South of Scotland)
Why we want you
Everyone has the right to live life to the full, we believe there should be No Life Half Lived in Scotland. With your support, we can make sure people with a chest, heart and stroke condition can do more than survive – they can really live.
You will assist our coordinators contributing towards the expansion our Peer Group network by providing a direct link between our partnered Peer Groups and CHSS: sharing important information, practical support and advice. Hours and times of volunteering are flexible to fit around other commitments, with an expectation of around 4-6 hours of a month.
What you will be doing
Support your coordinator to connect partnered peer groups with CHSS by passing on information, updates, and gathering feedback. Support your coordinator to provide direct practical assistance, including:
Community mapping and identifying venues. Sharing regular updates on
CHSS activity, resources, and services.
Update your coordinator with any concerns or identified areas where
additional support may be required. Attend (in person or virtual) a
6-weekly support and development session with your coordinator.
Travel is expected within designated volunteer area (expenses will be paid).

Expenses
Reasonable out of pocket expenses will be re-imbursed, these should be
discussed with your Line Manager prior to outlay and must be submitted within the prescribed guidelines as detailed in the CHSS Volunteer Expenses Policy.

This volunteer role is to support the running of a weekly group of people who meet to share their lived experience of one of our conditions, either Chest, Heart, Stroke, Long Covid or long term conditions. Main duties are to listen and encourage members to connect with each other, offer refreshments when needed and encourage to take part in activities such as hand eye coordination games.

CHSS will provide training to support you in your role.

Minimum age: 18
Frequency & commitment
Minimum of 6 months commitment required
Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
