Safeguarding Officer

Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them thrive in a safe, creative environment?
Glasgow Philharmonia (Movies to Musicals) is a Scottish SCIO charity providing exciting musical theatre opportunities for children and young people. From weekly rehearsals to residential trips and theatre performances, we create inspiring experiences — and we’re looking for a dedicated Safeguarding Officer to help keep our young performers safe and supported.
As Safeguarding Officer, you will:

  • Lead on child protection and safeguarding matters

  • Ensure policies and procedures are up to date and followed

  • Oversee PVG and safer recruitment processes

  • Be the main point of contact for any safeguarding concerns

  • Support our Board, staff, volunteers and contractors in maintaining best practice
Adult helpers, contractors, Board members and paid staff all work closely with young people, so this is a vital and valued role within our organisation.
    What you’ll gain

  • The opportunity to make a real difference to young people’s lives

  • A key leadership role within a growing arts charity

  • The chance to support exciting productions and creative projects

  • Being part of a friendly, passionate team
This is a volunteer role with flexible commitment, although attendance at key activities and occasional Board meetings will be required.
If you’d like to help young performers shine safely on and off stage, we’d love to hear from you.

Experience required

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children and young people

  • Understands safeguarding practice in Scotland

  • Is confident, approachable and able to handle sensitive matters

  • Believes in creating safe, inclusive creative spaces

  • Experience in the arts or youth organisations is welcome but not essential.
