Pop Hup Charity Shop Volunteer

As a Charity Shop Volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in helping us raise funds to support South Ronaldsay Community Association and other local community groups. By assisting with the day-to-day operations of the shop, you’ll create a welcoming environment for customers and help make a real difference in the community.
What could a volunteer gain from the experience?
Volunteers will gain valuable experience in retail and customer service, develop new skills and confidence, and become part of a friendly and supportive team. They will also meet new people and have the satisfaction of making a meaningful difference by supporting local community groups.

Experience required

A friendly and approachable attitude, with a willingness to help and engage with customers. Good communication and teamwork skills are important, along with basic numeracy for handling cash and pricing items. Reliability and a positive, can-do approach are valued. No previous retail experience is required, but an interest in supporting the local community is essential.

Training details

Volunteers receive a full induction and ongoing support from experienced volunteers. Training is provided on key tasks such as using the till, pricing items, sorting donations, and maintaining the shop. A trained volunteer is always available during shifts to provide guidance, answer questions, and ensure volunteers feel confident and supported in their role.
