LOOP Theatre
- VO105653
LOOP Theatre, are a Scottish charity who provide individuals who have additional support needs with the opportunity to learn, create, and perform together. We connect and invest in people, enabling their talents to be shared with the broader artistic community. We provide weekly drama and theatre sessions.
As a volunteer you would always be working with a lead artist and workshop assistant. Volunteers may support delivery but do not hold primary responsibility for safeguarding, supervision or session leadership.
Volunteers are essential to the smooth and effective running of the sessions. Your main tasks would include:
Active Participation: Join in and enthusiastically participate in creative tasks alongside members, which may include theatre games, music exploration, storytelling, or arts and crafts activities.
Creative Assistance: Support members during artistic tasks, such as assisting with materials for crafts, reading story lines, or helping someone complete a task at their own pace.
Setting Up the Space: Help staff prepare the rehearsal and activity space before the session (e.g., arranging chairs, setting up art tables, organising musical instruments, or ensuring the space is accessible).
Logistical Support: Assist staff with necessary practical tasks during the session, such as taking attendance, managing session materials, or preparing tea/coffee breaks.
Fostering Inclusion: Be a welcoming, supportive, and friendly face in the space, helping to maintain an open and adaptive environment where everyone feels comfortable sharing and exploring.
Adaptive Support: Offer gentle, adaptive support to individuals to help them fully engage with the day's activity, working within the parameters set by the lead artist.
Our sessions run on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays during the day. Sessions run from 1.5 hours to 3 hours, we would expect you to commit to volunteering for the full duration of a session.
We are also open to discussing the following alternative/additional volunteer roles if you are interested in volunteering with LOOP but don’t feel that a Workshop Assistant volunteer role would be the right one for you.
