Supported Self Management Volunteer Facilitator (Hawick)

We are looking for compelling communicators to help with the delivery and facilitation of six‑week self‑management workshops in the Scottish Borders. Our first workshop will be offered from August 2026.
This opportunity offers the chance to see the direct impact of sharing your communication skills, helping people achieve lasting positive change.

Experience required

As a volunteer facilitator, you will help create an inclusive group environment, using clear communication and facilitation skills. This role would suit someone with experience delivering in‑person training or similar group work, who enjoys building rapport, encouraging participation, and supporting individuals with varying needs and abilities.
The ideal candidate is reliable, patient, empathetic, and respectful of the opinions of others. An understanding of the need for confidentiality and ability to maintain boundaries is essential.
We are looking for someone who is happy to commit to initial and ongoing training and development. Lived experience of our conditions is advantageous but not essential.

Travel details

Workshops may be delivered at different locations across the Scottish Borders, so the ability to travel independently within your own area would be an advantage.

Travel expenses

Reasonable out-of- pocket expenses will be reimbursed. These should be discussed with your Line Manager prior to outlay and must be submitted within the prescribed guidelines as detailed in the CHSS Volunteer Expenses Policy.

Minimum age: 18

In line with our commitment to safeguarding, this role is subject to membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Adults) Scheme in Scotland (PVG).

Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
