Volunteers for Govanhill International Festival and Carnival 2026

2026 marks the 10th year of the Govanhill Festival and Carnival! We are looking for Volunteers in two main areas and time periods:

  1. At our Carnival and Parade Day: Saturday 1st August. This vibrant day opens our Festival with a huge street parade, and a carnival in Govanhill Park with music, speakers, food and fun. There are several volunteer roles throughout the day, including welcoming folks, walking with the parade as a safety marshal, holding props and flags on the parade and helping at the Carnival Day in the park.

  2. At events throughout Govanhill International Festival 2026, from Sunday 2nd August til Sunday 16th August, both daytime and evening shifts available. You do not need to commit to more than one shift (but you can commit to several if you wish!). Events will include: Walking Tours, Exhibitions, Talks, Music Events and more. Volunteers will be supporting the events in several ways, such as welcoming folks, giving out brochures and explaining the event, guiding them to seats etc., and generally supporting the event facilitators, by helping the public.
There will be in-person briefings during July, and all volunteers must come along to one of these, which will happen in Govanhill.
If you are interested please click the ‘Apply’ button below (available when logged in and registered). You will then be contacted by the coordinator by email or phone call. If you have not heard back after 5 working days, the first step is to contact the organisation with the contact details provided. You could also check your junk/spam folder on your emails just in case the response is there. If that doesn’t work out then please feel free to contact Volunteer Glasgow on [email protected].

Experience required

Interest in the local community, patience with the public, happy to spend some time outdoors in what may be typical Glasgow weather (however some of the roles are indoors). Ready to be friendly and helpful, and resourceful when necessary.
