Inclusive Homework Club

Inclusive Homework Club primarily supports children with additional support needs and those from disadvantaged backgrounds, we provide accessible, one-to-one tutoring in English, Maths & Science to primary and secondary school students in Glasgow. We also offer adult community classes and sports club for children during school holidays.
The Purpose of the Role
The Board Secretary ensures the charity operates effectively by supporting good governance, maintaining accurate records, and helping the board run smoothly and in line with Scottish charity regulations.
This is an opportunity to learn new and develop existing skills, and to gain access to free training.
We are looking for individuals with strong organisation and time management, good written communication (especially note-taking), attention to detail, understanding of governance (or willingness to learn) and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
Board Meetings
Schedule and organise trustee/board meetings every 2 months.
Prepare and circulate agendas in collaboration with the Chair
Take clear and accurate minutes
Record decisions and track action points
Follow up on agreed actions with trustees
Governance & Compliance
Ensure the organisation complies with:
Charity regulations (OSCR)
The organisation’s constitution
Support trustees in understanding their duties and responsibilities
Keep policies and governance documents up to date
Record Keeping
Maintain organised records of:
Meeting minutes
Trustee details
Key organisational documents
Ensure documents are stored securely in our SharePoint.
Communication
Act as a communication link between trustees
Circulate reports, updates, and meeting papers in advance
Ensure all trustees are informed and prepared for meetings
Support to Chair & Board
Work closely with the Chair to:
Plan agendas
Keep meetings structured and effective
Provide guidance on governance processes where needed
External Compliance (Charity-Specific)
Support submission of:
Annual returns to OSCR
Any required reporting documents
helping in recruitment occassionally when need arises
Keep track of important deadlines
Time Commitment
Approx. 3–5 hours per month
Attendance at board meetings every two months
Occasional additional time for preparing minutes or documents
