Be Part of Something Extraordinary at Glasgow 2026!
Help make Glasgow 2026 one of the most inclusive Commonwealth Games ever by volunteering at the Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity Sensory Bus, located in the heart of the action at the Spectator Plaza outside the OVO Hydro.
The Sensory Bus will provide a welcoming, calming, and accessible space for visitors who may benefit from a sensory-friendly environment during the Games. We're looking for enthusiastic, friendly volunteers to help create an outstanding experience for every guest who visits.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a world-class sporting event, make a real difference to visitors' experiences, and help showcase the very best of Glasgow's spirit, kindness, and inclusivity.
Volunteer Tasks include:

Promoting the work of Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity

Supporting Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity staff with the daily running of the sensory bus (e.g. guest experience, cleaning)

Shift Times
Shift times vary between 9:30am to 10pm from Friday the 24th of July to Sunday 2nd of August. Shifts are no longer than 4 hours long and you can select the shift that best suits you. There is also no minimum commitment so you are welcome to sign up to one shift or multiple across the event dates.

Volunteer Support Information
Induction & Training
All volunteers receive a full induction before their first shift.
Training includes:

Health & safety procedures for the event
Customer service guidance for interacting with supporters

Supervision & Onsite Support
Each shift has a GCHC staff member present.
Volunteers are always supported while on duty—whether it’s their first or fifth shift.
Help is on hand to deal with any unexpected issues or questions from the public.
Wellbeing & Inclusion
GCHC is committed to creating an inclusive, welcoming space for all volunteers.
Volunteers can share any access or support needs during onboarding.
Recognition
Volunteers are warmly recognised and thanked throughout their journey with us.
Volunteer hours are recognised with a small gift with each hours milestone reached.
