About this event
Help East Ayrshire Leisure add a new ultramarathon to the racing calendar. We are challenging athletes to run as many loops of Dean Castle Country Park as many times as they can in either 6 or 12 hours, either on their own or in a team. We need your help marshalling the route at key points around the Country Park, to keep runners and the general public safe and to cheer runners on up the steep slopes.
Volunteering details
The K6 and K12 Ultramarathon are a new event for Dean Castle Country Park and we are looking for volunteers to assist us during the 2 races - a 6 hour marathon and a 12 hour marathon. Runners and teams are signing up to do as many laps as they can of the Country Park in the allotted time. There will be an athletes' village for the teams and individuals, as well as marshalled checkpoints.
We are looking for volunteer marshal certain areas of the Country Park, in particular a road section and a couple of steep sections where we think runners will appreciate a cheery face waiting for them at the top! You will ensure the safety of the runners and the general public who will be using the park.
There are options for you to volunteer - for either part of or the whole day. You must be available for at least 4 hours of the event. If you volunteer for more than 5 hours, you will receive a meal voucher for our café. Free hot drinks will be available throughout the event at the athletes' village.
Any contribution big or small can make a huge difference. There are many benefits to yourself and others when you volunteer!
