4.1 Prevention or relief of poverty by supporting people to realise their potential through the provision of employment training opportunities, leading to improved employability of the individual, and hence potential employment.4.2 Advancement of education about the issues surrounding food production and fair trade, ensuring our young helping people to be are successful learners, confident individuals, effective contributors and responsible citizens4.3 Advancement of health, providing access to locally-produced fruit and vegetables and encouraging engagement with community growing spaces, thus enabling people to live longer, healthier lives4.4 Advancement of community development; through the promotion of volunteering ensuring we have strong, resilient and supportive communities where people take responsibility for their own actions and how they affect others4.5 The advancement of heritage: by the preservation of historic buildings and their natural surroundings, and by providing information about them to the public, we value and enjoy our built and natural environment and protect it and enhance it for future generations4.6 Advancement of human rights: by promoting fair trade and local food production, we reduce the negative local and global environmental impacts of our consumption and production, while enabling fair trade producers to work their way out of poverty. 4.7 Advancement of environmental protection and improvement by harnessing the water power available at Gavin’s Mill, along with adopting energy-saving and waste-reducing design features within the refurbished Mill, to provide a well-designed, sustainable place where local people and visitors are able to access the amenities and services, and also learn about our efforts to provide sustainable facilities.
