Charity registered in Scotland SC043606
WATIF (Woolfords, Auchengray and Tarbrax Improvement Foundation) is a charitable community development trust established in 2011 based in rural Clydesdale on the border of South Lanarkshire and West Lothian. Our vision is of a beautiful and vibrant place, with a great quality of life for all.
Our strategic objectives are:
To support local sustainable economic, environmental, and social developmentTo own well managed, financially sustainable land and buildingsDue to our location, we face many challenges, and after over 12 years of consulting with our community we have a clear direction for our work going forward. We have had many successes including community transport, community broadband, housing, paths, our local grant schemes, and numerous successful community projects/activities. We continue to regularly consult with our community through our social impact work.
We currently receive regular community benefit income from six local windfarms and apply to external grant sources also to support our work programmes. Thanks to funding from the Scottish Land Fund in September 2023 we purchased Loanhead Farm, which includes a farmhouse, a range of outbuildings and 20 acres of land. The community ownership of this asset, along with our six work programmes and projects, can help to address many of our unmet needs and aspirations long-term.
We can’t do what we do without or fantastic staff team and all our wonderful volunteers, led by our team of 9 trustees who themselves all volunteer their time to make our vision a reality.

Current opportunity
Volunteers will help clear outdoor areas around the farm - including moving tyres. We could do rolling tyre races to make it a bit more fun if you like! There's always something to do so we'll keep...
